Counter Sniper 2-Day (I.B.A.)

This 2-day I.B. A. (International Bodyguard Association) Counter‑Sniper course is designed to develop essential skills for Close Protection Operators (CPO) tasked with detecting, identifying, and responding to sniper threats in support of protective operations.

Course description

This 2-day basic Counter-Sniper course is intended for Close Protection Operators (CPO) who require essential skills to detect, identify, and respond to sniper threats during protective operations and convoy security. The course does not focus on offensive sniper employment, but on counter-sniper awareness, observation, and defensive use of precision rifles in support of protected assets.

Training provides a structured and safe introduction to the counter-sniper role within Close Protection and overwatch elements, emphasizing correct procedures, observation, and precision shooting fundamentals relevant to threat detection and response. Participants receive instruction in safe weapon handling, optics use, rifle setup, basic ballistics, and distance estimation, reinforced through progressive live-fire exercises.

Upon completion, participants will have a solid counter-sniper foundation applicable to Close Protection and Executive Protection operations, enabling effective protection of convoys and high-value persons from sniper threats.

Skill prerequisites and Requirements

Basic knowledge of handling a bolt action rifle is mandatory. For weapon-related courses, participants are simply asked to sign a clean criminal record statement — there is no need to provide an official certificate.

Methods

The course will be taught using theoretical and practical exercises. The lectures will be conducted in the classroom, in buildings, and on the shooting range. The course will be given with the LYNX TC equipment.
