This two-day BASIC course is designed to develop basic skills for candidates who wish to learn Long Range Shooting procedures and tactics.
Course description
This two-day BASIC course develops and upgrades fundamental sniper skills for candidates who use sniper rifles in their duties (soldiers, police officers, contractors in high-risk areas) and for others (sport shooters such as FinnSniper competitors, hunters). Participants learn how sniper rifles and optics work, correct riflescope mounting and zeroing, the composition of ammunition and differences between calibres, fundamentals of internal, external and terminal ballistics, preparation and use of a sniper data book/ballistic charts, methods for measuring distances and improving target observation and recognition, alternative firing positions, long-range shooting techniques, and sniper/observer duties. On completion, attendees will have improved safe weapon handling, greater confidence, better target recognition and distance estimation, and increased accuracy at long range.
Skill prerequisites and Requirements
Basic knowledge of handling a bolt action rifle is not mandatory, but we recommend it. For weapon-related courses, participants are simply asked to sign a clean criminal record statement — there is no need to provide an official certificate.
